Prayer lays hold of God's plan and becomes the link between his will and its accomplishment on earth.

Amazing things happen, and we are given the privilege of being the channels of the Holy Spirit's prayer.

HOW TO PRAY THE WORD OF GOD STEP ONE: UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS POWERFUL

The Bible tells us about the armor of God in Ephesians 6:11-18. We learn here that the armor of God is a set of spiritual weapons that are meant to protect believers and help them to stand in the face of attack from their enemies.

We learn that the armor consists of the following:

  • Belt of truth: Protects against lies from the enemy
  • Breastplate of righteousness: Righteous living protects our hearts from sin
  • Shoes of the gospel of peace: We walk in the peace of God everywhere we go
  • Shield of faith: Protects against the devil's attacks
  • Helmet of salvation: Protects the mind from the lies of the devil
  • Sword of the Spirit: The word of God, which is used to fight off the devil, his temptations, and his lies that contradict God's Word over our lives

This last part. This explains why knowing HOW TO PRAY THE WORD OF GOD is so important.

We can pray all day with our random thoughts and requests. God hears them!

But there is something about taking the ACTUAL WORD OF GOD and asserting yourself in prayer.

The Bible tells us that at the Name of Jesus, EVERY knee shall bow, even those of our enemies.

The Bible shows us that even the devil and his demons must respond to the Word of God.

The Bible shows us that the Word of God can do incredible things, including bringing things back to life and winning battles we did not even have to fight! (Come on Jesus!!)

Learning how to pray the Word of God is critical to your ability to do life in this world. If your situation or circumstances are not changing, then you are not asserting the Word. EVERY situation must comply with the Word of the Lord. There is no negotiation with that Truth.

When we know how to pray the Word of God and we breathe His Will (which is His Word!) into the atmosphere, watch and see how things begin to change. Watch how much bolder you feel in your faith!

Not sure how to do it but ready to get started? We are here to help.

A man who is worried

In learning how to pray the Word of God, we will use the example of standing on faith for the impossible in your life.

HOW TO PRAY THE WORD OF GOD STEP TWO: KNOW WHAT YOU NEED TO PRAY & FIND THE SCRIPTURES IN YOUR BIBLE THAT ADDRESS THAT NEED

Many Christians are praying for something that, in the natural, seems impossible. Things like making it through a homebuying process, what seems like a scary diagnosis from the doctor, getting a job when there's been no callbacks or more.

Life presents many opportunities that without God, would be impossible. That's Scripture!

But WITH God...HALLELUJAH! Everything is possible!

This is the simplicity behind learning how to pray the Word of God: Take what the Word says and make THOSE words YOUR words. Why does this work? Let's look at the Bible:

God is not man, that He should lie,
or a son of man, that He should change his mind.
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?

(Numbers 23:19 ESV)

God cannot lie. In today's language, He said what He said. So if I assert this Word, in belief and with no doubt, that Word has no choice but to activate in my life. PERIOD.

So in this example, we will learn to pray the Word of God by digging into the Bible and finding what He has to say about the impossible and who He is to us. If you don't already know where to find the verses you need, there is nothing wrong with googling it. (Use technology to help you to get in God's Word. There are many apps and websites to help, including this one!)

Scriptures for Learning How to Pray the Word of God over impossible situations:

  • Luke 1:37: With God, nothing will be impossible for you.

  • Luke 1:45: And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.

  • Matthew 17:20: For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.

  • Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

HOW TO PRAY THE WORD OF GOD STEP THREE: TAKE THE SCRIPTURES YOU FOUND AND TURN THEM INTO PRAYER OVER YOUR SITUATION

God does not need our help when it comes to His will for our lives and how He chooses to speak that will. Sometimes we struggle with what to pray because we are trying to have our will be heard and not God's will. (Ouch, that hurt!)

Again, praying in our own words is great! God wants to hear our hearts and our thoughts! But in many instances, when we really need God to move, we need to remind our circumstances of what GOD SAID and compel it to line up with that Truth!

Let us look at how powerfully different prayer looks when we use our words versus the Word of God:

Our Words: Lord, help me with this impossible situation. I can't do anything about it but You can. You see this bill or this doctor's report or this bank account or this loss. Help me Jesus. Amen.

He sees that and He hears it yes. But there is POWER in praying the Word of God. It's like a command being issued forth! Let's examine the difference using the Scripture we found above:

Father,

  • I thank You that while things are impossible for men, nothing is impossible with You. (Luke 1:37)

  • I thank You that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me! (Philippians 4:13)

  • Father Your Word says that I am blessed because I believe Your Word over me and that it will be fulfilled because I believe. (Luke 1:45) I am holding you to that Jesus! You are not a man that You should lie! When you say it, it is done.

  • So in Jesus' Name, I pray that because I am praying by faith even bigger than that of a mustard seed, this mountain MUST MOVE according to Your Word. (Matthew 17:20) My circumstances and my impossible-to-me situation MUST bow to the Name of Jesus.

Thank You Father for the authority given to me in Your Word. I believe and do not doubt so I know that I have received that which I ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.

BOOM!!! Did you feel that???

Even in praying that, I felt situations begin to shift!

Thank You Jesus! 🙌🏼
