When we conceptualize our products, we try to keep our ears to the ground of what the people may need to hear. This is the exact framework we used when we created the Just Breathe Leather Wristlet.
Except it was about much more than we thought. It's not at all what we thought it was: a call-to-action to stop, be calm, and breathe.
It's actually one of the most powerful prayers that you could ever pray, and it's only two simple words.
Just Breathe.
Let's keep going. It's mind-blowing.
The Mind-Blowing Revelation of the Breath of God:
When we look at the phrase "Just Breathe" from the viewpoint of what happens when God breathes, we understand that turning the phrase "Just Breathe" into prayer asking God to breathe on us, changes everything.
Pray on these truths this week regarding the breath of God. The basic, yet powerful, revelation in these statements is that when God breathes, things happen. Jesus.
This week we are unwrapping the first two truths regarding the Breath of God, understanding that our goal this month is to turn the phrase "Just Breathe" into a prayer of action. Asking God to "Just Breathe" on us is life-changing once we have a full understanding of the power of God's breath.
Truth One: When God breathes on something, things happen.
We see this in the very first chapter of the Bible: In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said... - Genesis 1: 1-2
In the beginning, the earth was not the earth. It was void, formless, and a place of chaos. The Word says that the Spirit of God hovered and spoke, which means He breathed over this space and called light and earth, water and fish, and plants and atmosphere into being.
He did all of this with His Words and His breath. THINK ON THIS.
If your life resembles the earth before it was the earth, what could the breath of God do as it breathes His command to order over your life? His breath can bring order to the chaos of your life and abundance to empty spaces. If He can transform an entire planet, how much more can He do in your life! Just Breathe over the chaotic places and the voids in our lives O God! Just breathe! Whew! Getting it yet? 😭 Let's keep going!
Truth Two: When God breathed into Adam, his body became alive and healthy.
Let's go back to Genesis: Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. - Genesis 1:7
We literally see God breathe into dirt and make it come to life as a man. There is no other way to interpret this. He fashioned Adam out of the dirt of the ground, breathed into His nostrils, and Adam began to live.
The breath of God brings LIFE and HEALTH to our bodies, even when we feel lifeless, and causes us to rise up and walk into our calling! Adam had a purpose and a calling as defined in Genesis 1: The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. - Genesis 1:15
Adam had a purpose and a calling over his life. He needed him to LIVE so that he could fulfill his purpose. So He BREATHED into him that he might live.
The breath of God can bring lifeless people and things to life. It can take things that seem to be devoid of life and movement and bring them to animation. That marriage that seems lifeless? Those finances that seem to be empty? The mind that seems dead? God can breathe into them and bring them to life so that they might accomplish the purpose for which they were created.
JUST BREATHE into the lifeless places in my life Father as you breathed life into Adam! JUST BREATHE into those things that are not responding to Your call on our lives God! JUST BREATHE ON ME GOD that I will accomplish the call that You have issued over my life today!
This week, pray over the areas that seem chaotic and void: pray for God to "Just Breathe" over them and call them to order as He did with the Earth in Genesis.
Secondly, seek God over the lifeless and purposeless areas of your life so that God would breathe air into the lungs of these areas and they would move with purpose and calling in the Earth.
JUST BREATHE on us Lord! In Jesus' Name. Amen.
This week we are going deeper into the next two truths regarding the Breath of God, understanding that our goal this month is to turn the phrase "Just Breathe" into a prayer of action. Asking God to "Just Breathe" on us is life-changing once we have a full understanding of the power of God's breath. Let's go.
Truth Three: When God breathed over the dry bones with Ezekiel, they came to life as a mighty army.
Let's go straight to the Bible first: Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. - Ezekiel 37:9-10
Ezekiel had been staring at a pile of dry and dead bones that in the natural had no life and no chance at life. But God. God's directive was to prophesy to those things that seemed impossible to bring to life and CALL THEM TO LIFE. After Ezekiel had prophesied their construction, the last thing they needed was the breath of God.
God breathed and they became an EXCEEDINGLY GREAT ARMY.
He did all of this (again!) with His Words and His breath. THINK ON THIS.
What is happening in your life that seems dead? Impossible to resurrect? Is it a business or a marriage? A relationship with your child or a friend?
GOD SPECIALIZES IN BREATHING THINGS BACK TO LIFE. Take Ezekiel 37 as a model. Today I want you to take that thing that has seemingly flatlined and I want you to PROPHESY. Prophesy to those dry bones and ask God to JUST BREATHE on them and watch how they respond! Pray with the authority of the Word behind you watch the breath of God do what it does. JESUS!! O what authority we have in the Word and the breath of God on our side.
Truth Four: According to Timothy, when God breathed the Word went forth.
Let's go to 2 Timothy 3:16-17: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
What does that mean? That means that the Word of God comes through His breath. That means that when He BREATHES His Word over you, that you are equipped in every way that you need for every work you are purposed to accomplish.
The practical application of this: regardless of the difficulty level of what you have been called into: being a parent, being a spouse, a businessperson, any career, the Word of God is BREATHED over you to equip you for every good work. It is the Word of God!
How do we pray this?
JUST BREATHE over the areas that seem dead in my life God! Raise them up to be an exceedingly great army poised for victory!
JUST BREATHE the Word over me God that I might be equipped for every good work! Trained and refined in righteousness that honors You.
JUST BREATHE OVER ME LORD AND OVER EVERYTHING THAT CONCERNS ME.
In the mighty Name of Jesus.
Amen.
Then He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit."
This last week we are exploring a most powerful truth regarding the Breath of God, understanding that our goal this month is to turn the phrase "Just Breathe" into a prayer of action. We are also going to look at some additional Scripture that you can pray asking God to "Just Breathe" on your life. This phrase is going to have a new meaning after this study!
Truth Four: When Jesus Himself breathed on His disciples, they were filled with the Holy Spirit.
You absolutely cannot beat this Truth. The Holy Spirit is essential in every area of our life and when we ask God to "Just Breathe" His Holy Spirit over us, EVERYTHING CHANGES.
The Bible tells us that the Holy Spirit brings wisdom, understanding, knowledge, counsel, might, and fear of the Lord. So when we need these things, we can pray and ask God to JUST BREATHE His Holy Spirit over us! This is HUGE.
The breath of God is transformational in every way. Where do you need MORE of the Holy Spirit in your life? Mediate on that this week and pray for God to Just Breathe more...and then more...and then MORE of His Holy Spirit over you so that you might be saturated in every way with what you need.
Spend the rest of this week really thinking about the Word of God as it pertains to the phrase "Just Breathe." Extrapolating these verses from the Scripture and turning them into prayer will make your life the windiest it's ever been as God breathes on you. It will change EVERYTHING.
Scripture Concerning the Breath of God
Just Breathe is more than a two-word phrase. When we open our mouths in prayer and ask God to "Just Breathe" on something or someone, it changes everything.
Take the Scripture and simply direct it towards yourself: Lord God, just breathe on me that I might be filled with Your Holy Spirit! That is praying Scripture and one of the most powerful ways to pray.
